The Women’s Veil and Honor in Worship

Some restaurants prevent patrons from entering if improperly dressed and certain office jobs have a specific dress code for their employees. Shouldn’t we expect the same level of order from the Creator?

Worship is an act of reverence towards God. There are certain regulations that we should follow, just like in other aspects of life. Regarding worship, one of those regulations is women worshiping with their heads covered.

“Follow my example, as I follow the example of Christ ... But I want you to realize that the head of every man is Christ, and the head of the woman is man, and the head of Christ is God. Every man who prays or prophesies with his head covered dishonors his head. But every woman who prays or prophesies with her head uncovered dishonors her head.”

1 Corinthians 11:1–4

Apostle Paul explained that women should wear a head covering in service, but men should not. As members of God’s church established by Jesus himself, Paul said:

“If anyone wants to be contentious about this, we have no other practice—nor do the churches of God.”

For this reason, you will find women covering their heads and men not covering their heads during worship services, at the World Mission Society Church of God.
